Ever since I lived in Milan, Italy, I have always wanted to live abroad again. I just didn’t know how or when. Then, in 2021, I was offered an opportunity of a lifetime. To work at the Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain as Director of Study Abroad and Special Programs at their Valencia campus. It was something I just couldn’t pass up! These last few months I have been transitioning from my life at Hampshire College and in Northampton, MA to this new life. COVID, general bureaucracies and visa delays have slowed this process. I finished working at Hampshire in early January, am in the process of selling my condo and am moving temporarily to CT until my visa comes through.
Leaving my family and a community where I have lived and worked for 14 years is not easy! I am so blessed at all the wonderful people I have in my life and I don’t want to lose that connection. I decided to create this blog, My Life in Valencia, as a way to help stay in touch with everyone and help me document and process this experience. I am looking to all of you to help keep me accountable and encourage me to keep this going, even if it takes a while to get there! I do ask for your patience though….writing a blog and keeping up a website is new for me so I imagine that this will continue to be a work in progress and will grow as I get more comfortable doing it. But for now, I invite you all to come with me on my journey and experience My Life in Valencia with me. I am very excited for this new adventure and can’t wait for it to start! Now we just need to get the visa! More to come soon!
