Today is the day! March 8, 11pm! Valencia here I come! I am filled with excitement, nerves and a whole lot of emotion. In some ways it has taken forever to get to this point, and in others, I can’t believe it is here already. And, in total coincidence, yet very apropos, today is International Women’s Day! A great day to start a new chapter. I arrive in Valencia around 5pm on March 9 and will be greeted by my amazing host, Vivian! She will meet me and we’ll take a taxi with all my bags (wow do I have a lot!) and I will stay with her until I find an apartment. Assuming all goes smoothly I will start work officially on Monday, March 14.
As I said in an earlier post, leaving all my family, friends and close colleagues has been very difficult. A huge thank you to everyone who has sent me well wishes via voicemail, email texts….it means so much to me to know you are all there. I couldn’t do it without all of your support, especially my family’s support. I will miss you terribly!!! I love you all very much!! XOXO
I will post as soon as I can get a little settled. I will be arriving just in time for Las Fallas de Valencia, a Valencian festival similar to Mardi Gras and Carnival. As one of you told me, I will think of it as a festival in my honor to welcome me! 🙂
XOXO
