First month in photos

The first month + I have been busy! From walking around the city, to eating great food, tasting amazing wine, going to the opera and ballet in the Palau de les Arts and even hiking nearby I have enjoyed getting to know the city and the surrounding area.

Photos from Top to bottom: 1st night in Valencia in front of los Torres de Serrano; Various night photos of the Palau de les Arts & the Citutat de Artes y Ciencias; My first churros y chocolate; along the coast in Cuellera; a ninot de fallas; touching the mediterranean in Valencia and at the port; My first hike outside of Gandia; Vivían and me before the ballet at the Palau with Berklee in the background; Paella Valenciana; wine tasting in Valencia and me on the Bridge of Flowers

    1. Hi Reeve! The ninot is the word they use to describe the “statue” behind me. It’s made of paper mache (I think). There really isn’t anything like it in the US…it’s between a statue and a float. They stay in the place they are built and then at the end all but the winner is burned. The winner is put in the Fallas museum.

      1. Wow, that sounds awesome! I wish we had something like that here. I think there’s a lot to be said for an annual ritual burning. 🙂

    1. Yes, pretty delicious. Not the Paella everyone thinks of….traditional Valencian Paella doesn’t have shellfish and is made with chicken and rabbit. I was surprised at how good it was! 🙂
